"Carik" style house shoes have been a long cherished within the Mediterranean, they have been around for nearly seven centuries thanks to masterful craftsmen and their comfortable designs. As modern shoes and slippers became more popular, only a handful of workshops preserve the traditional process of making Carik shoes. Face: Sheepskin Face Lining: Goatskin Soles: Buffalo Hide Inner Sole Lining: Goatskin Stitching: Beeswax Coated 100% Cotton Yarn All our shoes are made from chrome free / vegetable tanned leather. All dying is done with locally sourced plant based dyes. Natural, less processed and extremely breathable. Vegetable tanned leather will mold to the shape of your feet, becoming only more comfortable as you wear them out! Machine washable at low temperatures and cycles. Hand washing is recommended. Also suitable for moderate outdoors use. Ideal work from home footwear! A simple and useful, cozy gift. Sturdy, can last a lifetime with good care. Years go I bought a pair of Carik slippers while traveling in Turkey. I've worn them around the house for the last 40 years or so, but nothing lasts forever, and it was a time to retire that pair. Wanting a replacement, I thought I'd see if Amazon sold something similar, and HOLY COW, here they are....the exact same slipper I've been wearing for years. I placed an order instantly, and in about 3 weeks, they arrived by FedEx from Istanbul!These are the real deal. Buffalo hide soles, goat skin uppers, and waxed cord stitching.
